BOMA 2011 Summary: The List.

BOMA 2011 Summary: The List.

Washington- (June 2011)  The BOMA 2011 International Conference & Every Building Show. The Beltway road construction, perfect weather, Gaylord National Convention Center, green and lean, guacamole and pina coladas….. What, well maybe you just had to be there. Here is a quick summary my experience at the conference….from my point of view.

Best Booth: Servicemaster. Yes a full on NASCAR race car still does it for me and the people were very nice.

Best Product Name: XSTINK… nuf said!

Coolest Software: Yardi. What don’t they cover?

Best Mobile App: Still looking.

Best Meal: None. Probably my fault but I paid $8 for a small bag of chips and a bottle of water. Welcome to our nations capital.

Questionable Meal Choice: Guacamole and Pina Coladas. Jean- Claude Goldstein.” I always have pina coladas when I eat guacamole.”

Best Educational Session: All of them but the BOMA Office Standards session was at the top.

My Hotel: Aloft National Harbor. Modern funky, nice price in the center of everything friendly staff and thin…..walls!

Thank God: The CreoPoint Cyber Center. No Wi-Fi available at the conference. Yes 2011 and no wi-fi. Interesting….”interaction” about that.

Biggest Buzz Word: You guessed it. GREEN.

Biggest Buzz Topic: Greenbuild. So many topics. Engineering calculations, schools, health care, technology warp and un-technology warp.

Smoothest Speech: Henry Chamberlain BOMA President. Hit all the buttons and pointed out the up and coming kids. Nice touch.
