The Simple Art Of Hiding In Plain Sight.

The Simple Art Of Hiding In Plain Sight

How much is too much?

I made a decision just before the holidays this last year to step back a bit.

Let loose of the wired or wireless world and not feel the need or want to be connected.

Was it because of burnout? Was it because of time? Was it because of apathy?

Was it too much of too much commercial real estate?

Don’t start with the “you have to have a balance”……..blah blah blah. I have plenty of balance thanks.

Purposely absent.

One of the main reasons I made the decision to step back was to reduce the online “face time.”

Not just my face time but your chance of seeing my face All The Time.

Even I get tired of seeing it and it’s mine.

Constant content creation.

The list of  different types of content I have created  like podcasts videos guest posts comments recorded interviews etc. goes on and on.

How much is too much?

Does the constant relentlessness pounding of tweets posts likes pins pics and shares create a sense of just more of the same.

What real purpose does it serve?

Does it create more relevancy?

Do you just become one of the same as and actually become irrelevant?

My answer is a resounding Hell Yes!

Quiet Thunder.

So then I noticed something very interesting.

The more I stayed away the more people wanted to connect interact email dm read view and talk.

Now I did not completely fall off the face of the earth but my phone rings more now than ever.  My email box is jammed full. The dm’s are a constant. The followers continue to climb and the page views continue to astound.

So what happened?

It’s the simple less is more in full force.

Maybe it is the fact that I have built up some sort of online credibility that allows me to be able to step away.

Maybe I have hit some sort of groove that let’s me be more concise when I am online.

Maybe I have learned to manage my online time more efficiently.

Brilliant strategy?

So I am being more efficient with my time more concise with my content and becoming more relevant and in demand than ever before.

I had no idea that this would be the result of my simple need to step back.

I’m not sure that there is any way for me to explain how this “strategy” if you want to call it that has worked.

If you need permission.

I will give it to you.

Go ahead and step back .

Reduce the amount of time you spend online by let’s say at least half.

Watch what happens.

You may be astounded.

The simple art of hiding in plain sight.
