Duke Long’s Top 10 Most Influential Online Commercial Real Estate People 2017

Duke Long’s Top 10 Most Influential Online Commercial Real Estate People 2017.

Yes, it’s that time of year once again.

Here we are now into our seventh year.

How do you get to be one of “the most influential” people in commercial real estate?

Relentless work and commitment to this business, our business of commercial real estate.

Here they are in order!

1. Adam Stanley: CIO Cushman & Wakefield Chicago, Illinois.

BOOM! Right to the top of the list and could stay there (no pressure) for a long time. Moderating, leading and always willing to give pinpoint opinions from his chair on any panel. Traveling and connecting #CRE with a thoughtful and community mindset. Of course, he went to Wharton, who hasn’t? Foodie like no other and has some weird obsession with The Arsenal Football Club. Is that real football? He has been recognized as 2015 CIO100 by CIO Magazine, Top 25 CTOs by InfoWorld and now more important than any of those media things he is Number 1 on my list. Now that’s an accomplishment.

2. Coy Davidson: The Tenant Advisor at Colliers. Houston, Texas.

Find me someone more influential online in #CRE. I dare you! Killer content, stats, interaction, opinions, news aggregation, sharing, multi-platform, brand building. Oh and he even has a blog just for #CRE and Social media. The man is a machine. He’s on this list every year for a reason. It’s how you are supposed to do IT for #CRE. Just watch and learn! Want to know about Healthcare and #CRE? Learn from the master. Oh, and I am the world’s greatest wingman, just ask him. Hook’em Horns!

3. James Dearsley The Digital Marketing Bureau Everything Proptech Newdigate, Surrey, United Kingdom.

Ah, the Brits. How is it that everyone involved in #CRE (yes, that’s what I call it) in Britain is like 8 feet tall? Podcasting all things property and doing it in a broom closet occasionally (just ask him). Writing in-depth articles speaking around the world and making sure the bar opens on time. Now that’s how you get on my list. His Sunday Proptech Review is a must read. I wonder if he needs to get rid of the guy from Northern Ireland? Holding him back I say? Might need to be careful or they may tell me to “Houl yer whisht.”

4. Barbi Reuter: President at C&W | PICOR Commercial Real Estate Services. Tucson, Arizona.

It must be that dry desert heat. Barbi has been one of the mainstays on this list from the start. WHY? All the #CRE CRED in the world that’s why. Doing it day in and day out. More impressive is that she has taken the “influence” and pushed it far beyond the online world. Case in point The Crew Network. If you are not paying attention to “The Crew” it’s a huge mistake. Watch, listen, follow, and learn. This may just be me but the odds Barbi is the president of CREW soon? I would say 1000%. And that may just be the start. #CREW #CREW #CREW

5. James Milner, CCIM | Commercial Real Estate Broker in the High Country, NC.

Do you have to play in the big sandbox to make it? NO! Not according to me or James. Doing it old school and new school in a “tertiary” market. Connecting and pushing the next generation of broker forward. There is not a more stellar example of doing it the right way. He should be a use case for what’s now and next. Oh, and the pics of the kids and family in general on Instagram? Feels!

6. Wouter Truffino #ConTech #PropTech Naarden, North Holland Province, Netherlands.

Orange pants. Orange suspenders and a huge smile. How can you forget that? What an enthusiastic advocate for all things property, construction, infrastructure, and technology. Spreading the positive vibes and connecting the world like no other via workshops, company matchmaking, networking events, video, speaking and just plain showing up. He has invited me to Amsterdam. I’ve heard the canal trips are beautiful. Yes, that’s what I have heard. Don’t judge!

7. Allen Buchanan: Lee & Associates Orange County California.

Reality commercial real estate in the OC. Allen is a broker’s broker. On the street and doing deals in one of the most competitive markets in the world for (cough) years. He uses his online tools to focus on….wait for it….. his clients and customers. Yeah, it’s that simple and easy. The exact definition of a pro and networked beyond comprehension. The Tuesday Traffic Tips on Youtube is a must see. Never fails to deliver. What else can I say? I ask he delivers. You know his clients get all of that and then some.

8. Keith R. Auten Multifamily Real Estate Investment Solutions at Auten Realty LLC Dallas, Texas.

Some of us if not all of us have a niche that we focus on in #CRE. Healthcare, industrial, retail. How about multifamily? It has a different mindset, and it’s own interesting way of doing #CRE. Keith just flat out nails it online. It’s an information powerhouse that he unleashes. How do you get connected to buyers and sellers of multifamily? Just follow Keith’s example. How about the rest of #CRE? The same applies. Drill down and pay attention. They call it INBOUND!

9. Michael Bull, CCIM Commercial Real Estate Advisor Bull Realty Atlanta, Georgia.

The man, the myth, the legend, wait, that’s me! Yes, he has his radio show, yes he has his production studio. Now that’s commitment to content. Michael and I always have great fun when we are together. If it’s possible who can compare with the quality of #CRE content Michael produces. Real Quality. Educational, informational and actionable. He’s even started a broker video series. Just Brilliant! Oh, and I have “hung out” with Michael. How “large” can you be? Good Luck!

10. Ken Ashley, Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield Greater Atlanta Area.

One of the originals. Longtime advocate and trailblazer for #CRE and #Tech and doing it all while hitting the bricks and doing deals in THE ATL. Everyone’s friend and helper. How many times have I asked him for a favor? Too many, and when he has not come through? Never! Major League producer for Cush Wake nationwide every year and volunteering like there are 40 hours in a day. This is where I’m supposed to come up with a witty finish. Can’t. Ken is too nice. Ok, he likes good wine and an excellent steak. Seriously, that’s the best I can do. Sometimes it is hard to understand him. I think it’s because of that funny accent.
